The gorges of the Novella River Park

Fascinating, mysterious and millenary, are the gorges of the Novella River Park that amaze thousands of tourists every year during canyoning, trekking and kayaking activities.

Gorges, or canyons, are very narrow valleys made up of vertical walls carved into the rock.

But how did nature create these masterpieces?
Perseverance, strength and time… a long time 😅, basically thanks to the phenomenon of erosion!

Erosion of the gorge

The gorge is the result of the mechanical action of materials, such as stones or wood dragged by a watercourse, which cut and smooth the walls.

This is what has happened in recent times up to the present day, but you should know that the history of the Park has its roots in much more distant times.

The erosion of our canyons began, in fact, millions of years ago, at the time of the last glaciations, operated by the action of the subglacial rivers that cut the hard layers of Dolomite, the most common rock in the Novella River Park.

The gorges of the Novella River Park: how to explore them

As mentioned above, there are 3 ways to fully breathe the magic of the River Park: trekking, kayaking and canyoning.

Trekking

The trek is suitable for everyone, adults and children, and is perhaps the best way to capture every single detail that the gorge has to offer.
You will walk on metal walkways suspended in the void and observe the strength of the stream flowing under your feet, continuously accompanied by its voice, sometimes really powerful.

Kayak

Paddle in hand and off we go!
You will travel along a rather narrow stretch of Lake Santa Giustina before entering scenarios that will make you doubt whether you are really in Trentino.
Yes, because entering it you will feel like you have ended up in a completely different part of the world.
Peace, tranquility and silence are the masters of this magical place.

Canyoning

Canyoning is an adventure, a journey inside the gorge between abseils, slides and dives into the cool waters of the Novella stream.
Fun is guaranteed, in the company of a mountain guide, adrenaline as well but above all spontaneity that will lead you to create a group with the other participants and in the end who knows, beautiful friendships are born like this!
